Nothing works with Vista!!!!!!
Vista runs thing a bit differently and evidentaly needed that newer BIOS. Like Jupiter Jones said, "Upgrade Advisor" is just a advisor suggestion not a new versions of Windows out the door expecting PAYING CUSTOMERS to find blunders neither their own software engineers or their hand picked beta testers did.

Windows Vista System Requirements
This was seen in Beta testing and in these newsgroups. Sometimes the custom install works fine when the upgrade does not. I shutter to think what yet lies ahead if Vista is so damn dumb it can uncompress the CAB files and copy itself to my root drive,, but then get stuck. That proves it can write to the IDE drive

Question for Vista users.
I did one, and have not had any problems with Vista. MS has spoiled us with all previous OS's versions having an easy upgrade path. Now we expect it, and apprently they can't always deliver it. I don't consider the easy upgrade a necessity, just a very nice to have feature. It also pays to use the Upgrade Advisor

I can not believe that Visual Studio 2005 SP1 behaves the way it does in Vista; its a joke. I'm so tired of this...
Went to run advisor yesterday and it failed because of an older version that it couldn't remove. Tried add/remove, tried deleting files as well as registry entries, kept getting the same message that it couldn't remove an older version. Is there anywhere that i can get an old (beta) version of vista upgrade advisor
